Griffin has set two school records this month. First, he ran 7.90 seconds in the 55m Hurdles at the NLCC Indoor Conference Meet and then he jumped 22'7" to finish second at the Lake Michigan Invite featuring over 40 teams. He has qualified to compete in both of these events at this weekends Illinois Top Times Meet.

I would like to nominate Angela Salvi from Carmel Girls Soccer. She has been a team leader in goals and assists for the last three years. She has dominated the midfield ever since she was a freshman. She is a two year captain embarking on her senior season. After scoring our first goal in our first game, Angie is bound to have a tremendous senior season.

Ariyona is a two-year captain on the girls' track and field team...and she is only a junior. Ariyona followed up last seasons appearance a the IHSA state meet with a fantastic indoor season. Ariyona won the Northern Lake County Conference indoor 55m dash with a time of 7.34 seconds. Ariyona also broke Grant's indoor 200m dash record with a time of 26.88 seconds.

Joe Arroyo earned the title of IHSA State Champion at the 113 lb weight class with a final record of 44-1 for the season. He is the first state champion in school history for Grayslake North.
Sammi finished her amazing gymnastics career at Carmel leading her team to State the last 2 years placing 4th and 3rd in 2016. Sammi was the IHSA Regional, Sectional and State Championship in Floor Exercise. Sammi also finished 9th on the Uneven Bars, and 9th in the All-Around. This is the 3rd year she made finals in floor. Sammi also is an outstanding student maintaining a 4+ GPA.
Jamal is a two-year varsity starter that has averaged 22ppg and 8apg this season. He averaged a double-double at the Washington MLK Tourney last week, including a program record 15 assists vs. East Peoria. Jamal followed up his performance at Washington with a 30-point performance in a 56-43 win over Antioch to help the Knights improve to 13-4 (5-1 NLCC).
Katie Rossetti is a senior captain and four-year varsity basketball player at Wauconda High School. During our Winter Break Tournament (5 Games, 3wins, 2 losses), she averaged a double-double 15.6ppg/10rpg. Her individual games were: vs CLS - 20pts/12reb, vs Woodstock N - 13pts/11reb, vs RB - 14pts/9reb, vs Marengo - 19pts/10reb, and vs MC - 12pts/8reb. Her current season average is 11.0 ppg / 9.1 rpg / 2.4 apg. She looks to help lead our team to a strong finish in the NLCC and host a regional in February.
Danny was a founding member of the Boys Bowling program and has been a 3 year Varsity starter. He consistently averages 200 pins a game and had been a leader to his teammates and Team Captain all year. This month he took 3rd Place for High Game (279) and 4th Place for High Series at the Rockford Guildford Viking Invitational Tournament.
Payton has been on the Varsity team since her freshman year and has shown continued improvement every year. In the first tournament of the year she shot a 279 and placed 5th/90 girls overall for the day. At our Wauconda match, she had a high game of 230 and averaged 216 for the 3-game series. She is a consistent leader on the team and a role model in the classroom. Payton is planning on bowling at the collegiate level next year.
The Michigan signee recently defended his class 2A individual cross country title. His time of 14:12 is a new class 2A state record. Jack also took third in the Nike Midwest Regional qualifying for the Nike National cross country meet in Portland on December 3rd.
Marie had a fantastic season, ending her tennis career at Carmel. Marie was named "Singles Player of the Year" in the ESCC. She competed in Doubles in the IHSA State Series, winning the Sectional Title with her partner, Karina Falkstrom, and placing 10th at the State Finals.
Tyler finished 2nd at the IHSA 2A Golf State Finals which is the best state finish in school history. Tyler advanced to state as the reigning Regional & Sectional Champion. He also placed 2nd at the ESCC tournament. This season he shot 5 under par 30 at Mission Hills CC vs Notre Dame.
Karina with Doubles Partner Marie Kapelevich captured the Cary-Grove IHSA 2A Sectional Title and advanced to the State Tournament.
3 Year Varsity Soccer Player/ 2 year Starter/ Captain 2016 Leading Scorer 2015-2016 ( 12 Goals, 8 Assist) All Tournament Team North Shore Shootout 2015 All Tournament Team New North Shore Invitational 2016 All Tournament Team Pepsiso Soccer Showcase 2016 Juan Ramirez represent everything that high school athletics should be. The young man works hard in the classroom, on the field and is a role model within the Waukegan community. In my 3 years as a head coach I cannot think of anyone more deserving of athlete of the month than this young man.
Lauren is captain on the 2016 team, and leads the team in Kills(109) and Blocks(50). She is the most improved player from last year's team. Her commitment in the off-season has paid off and she is one of the most dominant middle hitters in the area. Lauren is uncommitted ut looking to play volleyball in college.
In Carmel's first game and win of the season vs Waukesha, Rondel had 23 carries for 163 yards, 3 TD's, 1 Kickoff return for 48 yards for a total of 257 yards.
Grace was the teamss MVP last year and is committe to play at Central Michigan next year. She is a 4-year varsity starter. She is Carmel's leader in career assists with 1,202 and counting and also set the single season assist record with 687 in 2015. This season she was voted as team captain and if Carmel wins a Regional Championship this year, she will have won a Regional title each of her 4 years.
Mike has had a very impressive month. He has been a terrific all-around player, racking up74 kills, 96 assists, 27 digs, 8 blocks, 7 aces, and a serve receive of 2.73/3.0. Mike is a team captain a 3-year varsity starter
In the month of May, Reagen is 5-1 with 81 strikeouts and a 1.67 ERA. She has also hit 3 Home Runs, scored 8 runs and has 5 RBI's. Reagen is the leader that every team wants. She not only leads by example but she gives her all on the field every pitch.
Griffin is the leading scorer in the state with 30 goals and 18 assists for a total of 48 points. He is a key member of the GNHS Lacrosse offense and an essential leader on and off the field.
Alexa is a four year All Conference and All County varsity athlete. Currently she is ranked in the Top 25 in state in four events. She has also placed in the IHSA State Meet the past two years in both long jump and high jump. At invitational meets this year, Alexa has 21 fist place finishes and leads our team in scoring for the second year in a row. Alexa has committed to Division 1, Cornell University to compete in the heptathlon next school year.
Trevor is a two year varsity captain and has led the Boys Basketball team in scoring this year. Trevor averaged 12,4 points per game this season; moreover, he averaged 17.3 ppg through the 2nd 2 months of the season. Trevor sparked the boys regional championship win in 4th quarter with 5 points in 7 seconds at the 1 minute mark left in the game. He continued to defend the oppositions number 1 offensive threat and took pride in his defensive assignments.
Savannah is a 3-year varsity player and captain who received All-State Honorable Mention last year for her performance in goal. During the 2015 season, Savannah made approximately 215 saves in goal, which is about 11 saves per game. She is a fearless, skilled goalie and strong leader. Savannah received early admission and a full, 4 year Division 1 soccer scholarship, to Texas Southern University.
George has won the NSC, IHSA Regional and IHSA Sectional the past three weeks. George placed 4th at State and his season record was 30-5.
Sammi is a standout member of the Carmel Gymnastics team which captured the 3rd place trophy at the State meet this past weekend. Entering the State Meet, She was Regional and Sectional Champion on Beam, as well as a Sectional Champion on Floor and All-Around. Sammi was a finalist on Vault, Beam, and Floor, where she placed on the podium with a 5th place medal.
Pat Schoenfelder is Antioch’s 152 pound wrestler with a current record of 33-2. He is currently ranked #2 in the state in class 2A. He has won the DeRousse Invitational, Midwest Classic and took 3rd at the Dvorak Invitational this season.
Alexa set a school record on 1/4/15 by making seven 3-point shots vs Zion Benton. She followed it up the next night with 12 points vs Grayslake Central.
Noah has proven to be one of the top bowlers on the team and continues to excel as an individual. He has improved immensely from last year and helped the team break the school record for top three game series.
As a freshman, Anna qualified to State in the All-Around; she did not compete her Sophomore year due to a season-ending injury. As a Junior, she is an impact player. Anna is an event specialist on bars scoring 9.40, at the 10-team Conant Invite, leading her team to the championship!
Only a sophomore, Austin scored 28 goals, and had 8 assists on the season. Led the Corsairs to a conference championship and third place finish in State. He has a deadly eye for the back of the net. Austin is an extremely fast forward who finds his way behind a defensive line to score goals. He is a pure striker.
Marie played first singles for the Corsairs and had an outstanding season advancing to the IHSA state tournament receiving 3rd Team Singles All State accolades.
“Ryan is a 3-year starter who now captains the soccer team from the center back role. He is extremely fast and dangerous in the air. He moves out of the back into the midfield very well creating a dangerous offensive threat. He has 7 goals and 4 assists this year. He is also the Kicker on the Varsity Football team.”
Coach Jim Halford nominated freshman standout for leading Carmel to the championship of the 40-team Peoria Invitational, placing 13th of 250 runners. Zella also placed 7th at the Warren Invite leading the Corsairs to a 2nd place finish.
Nick Dorosan has been the work horse to help Antioch begin the football season 3-1. The load has fallen on his shoulders due to injuries suffered by four quarterbacks and another starting running back. Despite defenses loading up to stop the run, Nick has run from tackle to tackle 70 times for 359 yards for 5.1 yards per carry through four games. Nick is also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the school’s award winning newspaper the Tom Tom.
Despite only being a freshman, Natalie has become the Sequoits number one cross country runner this fall. She has metaled in all three invitationals (two of them with over 20 teams) that Antioch has participated in this fall: Racine Horlick (20th), Rockford East (3rd), Warren (18th)
