Jacob is a 3 year varsity starter and is one of the best right handed pitchers in the area. In May, he is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA over 13 Innings Pitched with 9 strikeouts. On May 5th, Jacob pitched a No Hitter against Sandburg High School in a 4-0 Bolingbrook win. In 7 innings pitched he gave up 0 hits and struck out 6. On May 11th, Jacob pitched against Homewood-Flosmoor and allowed 0 earned runs over 5 innings pitched in a 14-1 Bolingbrook win. Jacob has committed to Bellarmine University to continue his education and baseball career.
Junior track athlete who broke the school record again in the pole vault at 12'8" last night in the sectional track meet. She was sectional champion and has the highest jump in her class going into the state meet.
Won the Geneva Invitational over the weekend and won all his matches midway point in the season. He continues to demonstrate effective leadership skills by putting character in action by helping his teammates improve their game through motivation and constructive feedback. John is a shining example of the power of we vs me.
She is a wonderful student (senior). She has taken the roll as the main leader in the field. I have been learning a lot from her and from the way she has overcome difficulties on her life. The Beacon News is working on an article about her for this month as well.
Isaiah Brown is currently ranked 7th in State Class 2A in Long Jump and 9th in Triple Jump. He won four events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, 400 meters and as a member of 4 x 400 relay) at the Chicago Catholic League Indoor Conference meet.
Alexis had a great season leading the Lady Mustangs Bowling team. She advanced to sectionals and the IHSA State tournament, placing 39th overall and was one of six underclassmen in the top 40. She will be one of the top bowlers in the district and the area next year, and a is a future athletic leader for Metea Valley.
Malik has progressed very well as a varsity basketball player in his sophomore year. He scored 20 points in a recent victory over Wheaton Warrenville South and a team high 30 points vs. Bartlett in the WWS MLK tournament.
Ashley recorded 24 points and 12 rebounds in the team's 55-54 win against Neuqua Valley. Ashley hit the game winning basket with 4 seconds left in the game to earn the victory against the Wildcats. In a victory over Rockford Auburn, Ashley had one of the best statistical games in school history, she scored 26 points and recorded 18 rebounds.
Harrison is leading the team with an average of 13.0 points per game. Harrison led the mustangs with a career-high 18 points to help the team earn a fourth-place finish at the challenging Ron Johnson St Charles Thanksgiving Tournament.
After leading Benet to the IHSA Class 4A State Championship as a junior, Kathleen Doyle has picked up right where she left off last year. The senior point guard has led the Lady Redwings to a 10-1 start this season. Despite playing limited minutes in most games as the Redwings average margin of victory has been over 27 points, Doyle is leading the team in scoring (15ppg), assists (4pg), steals (3pg) and is second in rebounds (5pg) and blocks (1pg). The do-it-all point guard and University of Nebraska commit is a leading candidate for Ms. Basketball in Illinois and has been nominated for the McDonald’s All American Team.
This year is the first year for Marmion's Hockey team and playing in the Chicago Catholic Hockey league has been challenging for the team. Jared Weaver has not only been dominating in goals and assists on the ice, but more importantly he's a leader for the team of mostly freshmen and sophomore Cadets. His ability to bring the boys together with all different hockey experience and mesh them together has been a huge asset to the foundation year for the program. The dedication and mentor-ship that Jared has brought to the team chemistry this year is exemplary of his personality and selfless style of leadership. Going as far as setting a goal to help the other kids be more successful on and off the ice. He's maintained honor roll status for four years and has a good balance of school and extra-curricular activities. His college decision is still unfolding and looks promising.
Day is a 2 year varsity cheerleaders with great athletic tallent, tumbling skills as well as great leadership ability. She helped lead her team to be a state IHSA finalist this past season.
Alan has been playing phenomenally in goal, playing 14 games, 3 shutouts, 176 saves, and only 33 shots on goal. He also has and encouraging his team to give 100%, but more importantly, he has been through several life events and has been working to steadily improve his attendance and grades; he's been encompassing the "All In" lifestyle on and off the soccer field.
Jennilyn has proved to be a consistent player and leader for our team this season. Although she is our setter standing at 5ft 3in, she has the highest hitting percentage on the team- .314 She also is the leader for aces -30 and assists-380 She was also voted to the United Township All tournament team. She has dedicated 4 years to the high school program and 3 of those years to the varsity team. She a seasoned setter and a positive influence on and off the court.
Scott finished with a 37 in a close loss to Wheaton North and 38 against Naperville North. Atthe Fenton Invite, Scott shot a 75, earning him a top 20 individual finish
Francesca, or "Frankie", is a powerhouse outside hitter on the varsity team. Frankie has averaged 6 kills and 4 blocks per match this season thus far. Frankie has a 94% serving average and 90% passing average. Although she is the youngest athlete on the varsity team, she is one of the most mature athletes and she possesses a positive attitude while being a strong leader on and off the court.
